Services to Improve your Additive Manufacturing Quality

Latest Techniques in Spreadability Testing and Layer Quality Control.

Experts at the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology at the University of Greenwich in Kent, UK, have designed an instrument to quantify the behaviour of a powder when spreading for Additive Manufacturing. This incorporates a shadowgraphy technique, used to quantify powder bed surface roughness.

It can also be set up to determine powder bed relative packing fraction, the change in packing fraction, particle size and shape over the build plate, or to evaluate the electrostatic charges over the powder bed.

Online short course

This new technique will also be discussed in the online short course Powder Handling and Flow for Additive Manufacturing.

Taking place each afternoon between 11 – 15 September 2023, delegates will learn about the critical aspects of powder handling and management, including powder properties, quality, and Health & Safety considerations. These include Recycle and quality issues, Contamination and oxidation issues, Standards for AM Powders as well as quality considerations such as sampling, electrostatics in powders, control of flow properties and segregation of powder components. The latest Techniques in Spreadability Testing and Layer Quality Control will be discussed and examples of it’s use within industry explored.

Who should attend? This course is designed for those working in powder-based Additive Manufacturing processing, particularly with metal and plastic powders. You do not need any previous formal training to attend, you just need to be working in this field of processing.

Full course content and registration is available here

Course fees are £775 per person, discounted to £697.50 for 2 or more registrations from one company.
