Essentra accelerates integration of BMP TAPPI with trials of new alternatives to single use plastics

Essentra PLC, a leading provider of essential components and solutions, is accelerating the integration of its recently acquired BMP TAPPI business and in particular trials of more sustainable alternatives to single use plastics in the manufacture of future ranges of protective caps and plugs.

Working closely with colleagues at the Essentra Centre of Excellence in Kidlington, UK, tests are being conducted to see how post-consumer recycled content and biodegradable bioplastics can help make future manufacturing more sustainable, in line with customer demands in Italy and Southern Europe.

Essentra is also looking to ramp up production, taking advantage of the 115 injection moulding machines within BMP TAPPI's modern facility to deliver more products, more quickly and more efficiently than ever before across a broader portfolio of caps and plugs.

While it is currently integrating a further 1,500 products into its manufacturing lines, and serves 3,300 live accounts, further new products and innovations are expected to be announced in Q2 and throughout the remainder of the year, as well as further developments in production and tooling capability. A number of sustainably sourced products are already included within its current range.

Nicolas Karoui, Integration Director at Essentra, says the level of employee engagement has been exceptional: “The BMP TAPPI team is very excited about being part of the Essentra family and about what the future holds,” he says. “We are building on very strong foundations with proven products and a management team committed to further strengthening our European presence and global manufacturing footprint.”

Based in Milan, BMP TAPPI has more than 60 years of history serving thousands of customers predominantly across Europe, in multiple end-markets, including industrial equipment, automotive and metal fabrication sectors. Prior to being acquired at the end of 2023, it had been a trading partner to Essentra for over 20 years.
