Energy efficiency must double in pace by 2030 to hit climate goals

Today, the IEA has announced that energy efficiency must double in pace by 2030 to hit climate goals.

In light of this, Chris Collins, Country President Ireland of Schneider Electric, comments on the impact of the energy crisis on slowing down business’ efforts to decarbonise, and the need to push sustainable improvements back up the corporate agenda:

“Organisations globally are grappling with social, environmental, market, and technological trends amidst growing concerns about the climate. But adapting to change can be challenging, especially when energy prices are fluctuating due to market volatility. For 50% of organisations in Ireland, sustainable investments have been stalled by the energy crisis.

“The climate crisis is urgent, and businesses can’t afford to slow down their efforts to decarbonise. Energy efficiency must be a top priority and can also result in many tangible operational and financial benefits.

“For countries to make real progress with climate goals, it’s vital organisations push sustainability commitments back up the corporate agenda. It’s not too late to meet net-zero goals and it makes business sense to prioritise sustainable improvements. By understanding and addressing energy use, and investing in renewable sources of energy, innovative technology and expertise, businesses will be well on their way to meeting their emissions reduction commitments, while future-proofing themselves for years to come,” comments Chris Collins.
